Hotel at a Glance: Whistler’s Inn

There are barrel-chested grizzly bears, elk, and cougars inside Whistler’s Inn. Don’t worry—they’re stuffed and belong to the onsite wildlife museum. But if you venture outside, you’ll also have a good chance of seeing these animals in the wild. Jasper National Park, known for its snow-capped peaks and turquoise glacier-fed lakes, surrounds the town.

  • Where you’ll stay: Guest rooms feature contemporary decor, cable TV, and a supply of locally roasted coffee.
  • Nearby skiing: Marmot Basin is just a 20-minute drive away.
  • Onsite dining: The inn is home to two eateries—a fine-dining Italian restaurant and a casual joint serving diner fare and all-day breakfast.
  • Rooftop relaxation: Soak in one of two rooftop hot tubs while you soak up panoramic views of the Rockies.
  • Wet your whistle at the Whistle Stop Pub, which features 11 beers on tap, pool tables, and live music.

Jasper, Alberta: Gateway to the Canadian Rockies

Though it’s more rustic than Banff (which is about four hours away), Jasper is an excellent gateway to the Canadian Rockies. It’s home to its namesake national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with glacier-fed waterfalls and snow-blanketed peaks. Visitors can get aerial 360-degree views of the mountains from the Jasper SkyTram, which climbs to an elevation of 7,424 feet (2,263 m). At ground level, there are more than 60 miles (97 km) of hiking trails; one popular route loops around the shores of Maligne Lake.

For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, there’s the Columbia Icefield, a giant slab of ice that straddles the Continental Divide and feeds eight glaciers. Several shuttle buses make the trip daily. Later, visitors can warm up in Miette Hot Springs, a manmade pool filled with natural hot-spring water kept at a comfortable 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).

Great hotel and room with a view! A great hotel with lots on offer!! On our arrival we got a great parking space in the car park and ended up with a massive room with beautiful views to the front of the building. The room was very clean and tidy. There’s were 2 roof top hot tubs that we had all to ourselves with beautiful views of the snow topped mountains. There is a bar offering the usual drinks and a good choice of food although we didn’t eat here. Great choice!!

Comfortable and convenient Whistlers Inn is centrally located in Jasper, great to walk everywhere after a long drive. We also got a suite, so had a parking spot which was so helpful. Check in and check out was really smooth and easy, and the front desk staff was always available to help. Getting to our room was really simple, a quick run up the stairs, or elevator, and there are multiple entrances to the hotel depending on where in town you’re headed. Our room was clean and comfortable and housekeeping came everyday. The rooftop hot tubs were great and rarely crowded when we were there. The only bummer in my mind was we had no microwave and there is no drinking water available at the hotel. Thankfully the grocery store was just next door. We went there several times. We didn’t try the pub, but we went to Casios one night and it was delicious. Would definitely stay again, thanks Whistler Inn!

Great location in Jasper Chosen for the proximity to the train station, I was very happy with Whistler’s Inn. The room was comfortable, the bathroom clean, the inn was in the heart of Jasper Village, which not only was great for the proximity to dining but also the amazing hike to Old Fort Point.
