Hotel at a Glance: York Harbor Inn

The York Harbor Inn is actually a collection of six separate lodges, each with its own special details but all with vintage, East Coast décor. Located in York, a charming town along Maine's picturesque coastline, the inn was named in Fodor's list of the "10 best luxury hotels to visit in the off-season." The award was given in part for its abundance of excellent dining options, its easy access to the nearby Kittery Outlets, and its homey atmosphere, with obvious nods to Maine's colonial history.

  • Where you'll stay: Luxury rooms at Chapman, Harbor Crest and Harbor Cliffs. Country Inn rooms at the Main Inn exude a quaint Maine coast aesthetic. Please see the property's website for details on amenities in each building.
  • Fine dining: The acclaimed 1637 Restaurant is helmed by Chef Jermain Henry
  • Country Inn Full Buffet Breakfast: York Harbor Inn offers a full buffet breakfast served in our ocean view 1637 dining room, with hot items like scrambled eggs and strata, meats, home fries, fresh cut fruit and yogurt. House made granola, breads and muffins and assorted breads and bagels.
  • Take a walk: The inn is only steps from the ocean and Harbor Beach (the "local's beach") while Chapman and Harbor Crest are within walking distance of the Wiggly Bridge and York River

York Harbor, Maine: Oceanfront Village with Rich Colonial History

Located less than 10 miles north of the New Hampshire border on Maine’s Atlantic coast, York Harbor combines four historical communities into one picturesque town. The Old York Historical Society promotes the area's rich history, showcasing colonial exhibits and landmarks. A one-room schoolhouse from 1745, a tavern dating to 1750, and the 1719 Old Gaol prison are among the sites you can visit. Another nearby attraction is Wiggly Bridge, believed by many to be the smallest suspension bridge in the world.

Nice stay Nice stay. It was beautiful across the street to go the beach and sit at the park. We would go back. The breakfast was really good and lovely serving staff. Good restaurants nearby as well. The only thing was the noise from the road. We were in a room on the street and wanted to have our window open. But the noise from the cars and trucks were load.

Absolutely Horrible…..Stay somewhere else! While the location is excellent, the rooms are in bad need of repair. The shower is a 3 x 3 standup, the bathroom is inadequate. The overall look and feel of the room is dank and dirty. IF you want to pay big money for a night in York that is small, dingy, dirty, and unkept, then this is your place. Find another one….

Consistently a favorite We have stayed @ York Harbor Inn several times now & have yet to be disappointed. Our favorite is Harbor Hill due to the ease of parking close to your door & no stairs. The room overlooks a village street, park & then the ocean. Comfortable bed, spacious bathroom & fantastic breakfasts add to the charm of this place. Bathroom counter space is somewhat minimal but it is an older & much more charming building than the newer chain hotels. Staff are eager to please & the breakfast hostess & host were attentive & welcoming. Love the chowder @ their Ship's Cellar Pub too.
