Ideal location 2 miles from entrance to Yosemite National Park Excellent location only 2 miles outside the Park. This is helpful to arrive at the entrance gate early as queues can quickly get long to enter the Park. It is definitely worth getting a room right next to the river. It is great to be able to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine. Although the river is noisy, the double glazed windows are excellent at keeping the noise out once in the room. Rooms are a little dark and old fashioned but well equipped including fridge, toaster, hob (old fashioned) etc. Restaurant was ok, nothing special, and shop was well stocked. A great choice when visiting the Park.

First time to Yosemite The staff was so helpful answering my questions promptly via email. We arrived after 10pm with no issue checking in late. There is a small grocery area that was open as well and connected to the lobby. We stayed in the Sequoia building on the first floor with a river view. The room has a large bathroom, with a double size tub/shower, a kitchenette, closet, electric built in fireplace, super comfy bed, two nightstands, a desk and a couch with coffee table. The glass sliding door to the balcony must be soundproof. When we opened the door, we were surprised by the roar of the river. I write this at night before seeing it in the daylight but I am sure the view is amazing. We are co side ring staying an additional night because the room is much better than we anticipated. Highly recommend.

Everything you need! What a great find this place was for us! Perfectly located with all amenities on the site for us. We had the loft room with a kitchen which provided the opportunity for us to relax and eat in in the evenings on our return from Yosemite National Park. I imagine the river view rooms would be awesome, but we were happy with our choice.

Great location and views Very close to Yosemite west entrance. About 20 minutes to Yosemite Valley. Room was large and clean. We stayed in the rosebud building which seems to have been updated at some point. Beautiful river view. Very convenient to have a kitchenette. Hotel is short in amenities and they do not provide housekeeping unless you request it. I did not realize this and was annoyed to get to the room in the evening to find out it was not cleaned. Next day I knew to request housekeeping which made for a nicer return to the room. Nothing to do in el portal and the only close restaurant is right near the hotel. Nice gift shop in the hotel.

Basic and Fine I was not disappointed. I was pleased. Looking at various options both for room location and other places in the area (there aren't many), reading various reviews, and I was pleased with my actual experience. Some little things were off (no ice bucket, for example) but the staff were accommodating and made things right. I was in a room with a mountain view. Since my trip was five days in Yosemite and not lounging in a hotel room, the room was fine. I opted for the simplest room (not the river view or kitchenette rooms that cost more), but there was a toaster and coffeemaker in the room. Fine! While the base bedding (no mattress pad, just a bottom sheet) wasn't great, everything was clean and I had great sleep each night. The bath was sparkling clean. The registration area was very helpful since they have a nice selection of groceries that made it possible for me to make up for not bringing more with me. Yes, the items in the grocery are pricier than a big grocery store found in other places, the convenience was amazing! Being four miles from the entrance to the park was the draw. It's basic. This is not a resort or spa. Enjoy it for what it is!
