Park City, Utah: Historical Mining Town Turned Ski Mecca

Park City has humble roots as a mining town nestled in the Wasatch Range east of Salt Lake City. But in the past 30 years or so, the town has blossomed into an international skiing destination. Each winter, Park City Mountain Resort is blanketed with an average of 365 inches of snow, which means plenty of fresh powder across more than 300 ski runs and eight terrain parks. In the warmer months, you can weave your way through groves of trees on miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails.

Back in town, Park City’s former saloons and boarding houses have given way to more than 100 independent boutiques, 30 art galleries, and 50 restaurants along the Historical Main Street. For about 10 days each January, Park City glams it up Hollywood style as the host of the Sundance Film Festival. When Sundance isn’t in town, you can catch a play, concert, or comedy show at the circa-1929 Egyptian Theatre.

It was perfect for our family. My youngest child could comfortably share the sofa bed with me and the bunk bed was perfect for my other two children because they don’t like sharing a bed like they need to do in a standard two-queen bed hotel room.

Disappointed and Frustrated with YOTEL Park City Check-In Experience I am deeply disappointed with the experience I had during my check-in at YOTEL in Park City on November 24th at approximately 12:00 AM. After a long and exhausting trip, I was looking forward to a smooth check-in process but was met with nothing but frustration. The self-service iPad system repeatedly failed, leaving me unable to retrieve my room keys despite following the instructions carefully. To make matters worse, the system charged me eight separate security deposits of $250 each, split between two of my credit cards. This is completely unacceptable, especially at such a late hour. I was not alone in this ordeal; two other parties in the lobby were also struggling with the same issue. Ultimately, I had to call my credit card company and was forced to relocate to a different hotel, adding further stress to an already difficult situation. While the $2,000 in security deposits were refunded after six days, this delay was both inconvenient and frustrating. To date, I have yet to receive a response from the General Manager to my email. At a minimum, an apology should have been extended for the inconvenience caused. I cannot recommend this hotel and urge YOTEL to improve its check-in system and customer service to prevent such issues in the future.

Spacious Rooms, Comfy Beds, and Convenient Amenities - A Great Stay! This hotel was a fantastic find! We stayed in a 2-bedroom with 5 beds, and were pleasantly surprised by how well they used the space. It was compact but had everything we needed, and every mattress was super comfy foam mattress (even the Murphy bed!). Here's what we loved: Peaceful and quiet: We stayed during Thanksgiving week and it wasn't overly crowded. The rooms were incredibly quiet, especially at night. Perfect temperature: The heating/cooling system kept us cozy without that annoying hotel heater noise you sometimes get. Amazing staff: Everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Heated pool and hot tub: Even though it was 20 degrees outside, we enjoyed a relaxing dip in the heated pool and hot tub! Free laundry: Having a free laundry room on each floor was amazing, especially for a longer stay like ours. Easy parking: Parking was included and super convenient, which was a huge plus. It was also indoors, which was great because it snowed while we were there! Highly recommend this hotel!

Perfect stay. Perfect location for hiking and I imagine skiing in the winter. Short and easy walk to the main lift and center of canyons village. Layout of room is so efficient, they even offer a fridge and stove. Building amenities are A+, we loved the steam room and hot tub. Park city bus system is so efficient so renting a car isn't needed, bus pickup is right next to the building, but they offer free parking in the interior garage if you do drive. Would absolutely book again.
