Miami: Balmy Climate and Vibrant Nightlife in South Florida

Towering skyscrapers, high-rise condos, and performing arts buildings punctuate the skyline of downtown Miami. During the day, the area is filled with busy professionals headed to and from the office, but at night it becomes an entertainment hot spot as bars and lounges open their doors. It’s also home to American Airlines Arena, where you’ll find big-name headliners—think U2 and Madonna—as well as Miami Heat games. Next door, Bayside Marketplace is a nice spot to eat dinner and do some shopping along Biscayne Bay.

Take Route 1A across the bay and you’ll find yourself in Miami Beach. The southernmost portion, South Beach, is known all over the world for its vibrant, pastel-colored art-deco hotels and rollicking nightlife. But the rest of Miami Beach has charms of its own. Water temperatures at the city's pristine beaches stay on the good side of 70 degrees all year long, and views of the Atlantic Ocean are unparalleled. A seaside boardwalk stretches for more than 70 blocks, providing a scenic pathway for jogging, biking, or conga-lining your way from North Beach to South Beach.

Not what we expected We booked three Savvy King rooms, which promise a city view. While our room was fine, our view was of concrete and garbage with no city view (room 216). Our friends were in the same room category, but their room so much smaller and their bathrooms were definitely not renovated. You could sit on the toilet and wash your hands at the same time (room 818). The location is phenomenal, but sadly, I don't believe I will return and I definitely will not refer this hotel to my clients.

Very Bad Stay They offered us early hotel room for $50, which we accepted but they failed to tell us that the TV's were not working and it was pouring rain outside so we could not go explore outside. One of the elevators was out of order and the stairs are very steep. On the day we were leaving it took me 45 minutes to get on to the elevator to get to the lobby. I have bad knees and can't stand for too long. My husband took well over an hour and half to get a ride down with the luggage. It wasn't until I begged security to rescue him that they finally went up and got him. The front desk was useless and when I complained about paying for early room access when there was no tv service, they shrugged. The only good thing about our stay was the restaurant which was delicious and I give high marks to them.

Great experience My stay at this hotel was amazing! The staff were welcoming and so helpful. A young lady named Elisha was super attentive and helped me out in the beginning which made everything so smooth and easy. Will be staying here again in the future with my family.

Dirty low end hotel - Don't waste your money Dirty, low-end hotel trying to look updated but the rooms are smelly(moldy), the shelves look like they were painted over in a poor manner, no ventilation in the bathroom(which means mold growth), the bathroom is tiny, the door to the room had a gap where you can see the hallway light(which means it's not even sealed tight... fire code issue!). This hotel charges you an amenity fee of $22.60 USD which includes an alcoholic drink(which wasn't even good-cranberry vodka) so basically you're paying for a crappy drink. No other hotels along Biscayne charges you this fee. Save your money and go to Holiday Inn. At least they include breakfast there! Breakfast here is also super expensive, we ended up going to Holiday Inn for breakfast. I've been on the line for 20+ mins trying to ask them for an invoice for the amenity fee charge! They literally have no interest in decent guest service. Will not come here again. Go to Eurostar! Much better hotel and only a few blocks away.

Location is excellent, but there are many better hotels in Miami The YVE is perfectly located if you want to explore Miami on foot (right opposite Bayside Marketplace). Check-in was smooth and efficient. However, there are only 2 elevators for 15 floors, which means that there is normally a lengthy wait for a crowded ride to your room/the lobby. The room itself was fairly basic, but fine for just one person. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was underwhelming, the shower took ages to get to temperature, and there's not enough room for the tub (it would be better to just have a wetroom, with toilet and shower). It's also a noisy hotel, with constant traffic noise and poor sound insulation (you could hear your neighbors on either side). I understand there will be noise, being in downtown Miami, but guests should be able to have a peaceful night irrespective of location. The Biscayne Tavern (the onsite bar/restaurant) was excellent, though- I only visited to redeem my complimentary drink, but was impressed by the decor and the service I received at the bar was efficient. Overall, it was an OK hotel, with good personnel (especially Claudia) and perfectly located in the heart of the action, although it is seriously let down by the rooms. If the investment made to the lobby and bar made it to the rooms, this would make it a seriously good hotel.
