Summer-Camp-Style Family Getaway
At Club Getaway, you’ll find a giant water trampoline floating on a mountain lake, rows of rustic log cabins, grills sizzling on the beach, and volleyball and tennis courts. The property normally bills itself as an adult summer camp, but every August it transforms into a retreat just for families. With this getaway, families of up to four can settle in for a 2 days of sports, hikes, and nightly campfires with s’mores. It might feel like kids’ summer camp, but there are grownup activities, too—think beer and wine tastings and water-skiing. If the adults want to do something on their own, they can send the kids off to the supervised Kids Club or Teens Club to socialize with kids their age.
On any day at Club Getaway, you can choose from an array of outdoor pursuits, from biking to rock climbing. You can even go mountain climbing in the nearby Berkshire mountains, or simply take a book and read by the lake. With all packages, you get a gift bag that includes a water bottle, yoga mat, and other goodies. When mealtime rolls around, you’re covered: chefs from the Connecticut Culinary Institute serve up hot and cold breakfast buffets, outdoor lunchtime barbecues, and family-style dinners.

Daily life in Kent is refreshingly subdued. Founded in the late 18th century, the small town is made up of several smaller hamlets and two covered bridges that span the Housatonic River.
