Thai Island-Hopping West Tour for Ages 18–35
Thailand’s islands are blessed with gorgeous beaches and rocky cliffs, and recently they’ve been augmented with some excellent restaurants and wild nightlife. You’ll visit three of them on this 9-day trip, which includes orientation tours and lots of free time for relaxation and exploration. A trip manager will be on hand to give recommendations and lead activities.

Day 1–3: Phuket
Your trip starts in Phuket, Thailand’s largest island. Later in the evening on your first night, you’ll head out on the town to experience the buzzy bright atmosphere of Phuket’s bars and clubs.
- Visit with gibbons, the native small apes, at the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, which aims to protect the primates and return them to the wild.
- Eat some authentic pad thai and curry at one of the countless restaurants on Phuket
- For a dose of history: Explore the architecture of Phuket Town, which is laced with Chinese influences. Or visit the 150-foot-high Big Buddha that oversees the island.
- Experience natural beauty on Phuket’s west coast with a tour of the area’s caves and dramatic coastlines, marked by funky limestone karst formations. Ko Tapu, at Ao Phang Nga National Park, was featured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun.
Days 4–6: Koh Phi Phi
The Leo DiCaprio film The Beach was filmed at Koh Phi Phi, your second stop on the island hop. Your trip manager will meet you upon arrival at the island for an orientation tour, then you’ll have two days of free time to explore it on your own.
- Optional activity: Get a sense of the lay of the land with a cruise around Phi Phi island. It will take you past Maya Bay, filming location for The Beach, as well as to Monkey Beach, which is as advertised—full of monkeys.
- Watch the sunset over the sea: Your group will head to the highest spot on the island to get a gorgeous view of the sun setting into Andaman Sea.
Days 7–8: Krabi
From Koh Phi Phi, you’ll take an afternoon ferry to Krabi, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Thailand. It still has retained a small-town feel, though, with lovely, unspoiled beaches.
- Ao Nang, a small beach town, is your first stop; with your free time, explore the downtown or go for a massage at the beach (extra fees).
- Tiger Cave temple: Enjoy a beautiful view of the island from the top of this Buddhist temple—just be ready to climb 1260 steps (it’s worth it for the photo op).
- Secluded beach: Rai Leh beach, quiet and unspoiled, is only accessible by boat. Hire a long-tail boat operator to get here and you’ll find gorgeous rocky cliffs.
Day 9: Return to Phuket for Return Flight Home
