Four-Star Resort Tucked Between Mountain Ranges
Between the Rocky and Purcell Mountains, with Mount Nelson towering in the distance, Copper Point Resort overlooks rolling hills, lush meadows, and alpine forests. Close to Windermere Lake and within 20 minutes of the Panorama Mountain Village and Fairmont Hot Springs Resort ski areas, this four-star lodge-style resort is an upscale home base for exploring British Columbia’s great outdoors.
Beginning in late March, golfers can enjoy the area’s nine championship courses on the Columbia Valley Golf Trail, two of which are onsite at Copper Point Resort. After hitting the links, feel free to relax with a dip in the indoor pool, which is complete with fountains, or ease stiff muscles in one of the hot tubs. The elegant Elements Grill serves contemporary rustic fare and offers a seasonal outdoor patio with mountain and golf-course views.
Vessel sinks, granite countertops, and queen-size beds lend standard rooms a sleek, sophisticated look. You can take in views of the golf course and mountains through the french doors and from a private patio. For more room to accommodate a family of four, choose a 750-square-foot one-bedroom suite, which includes a fully equipped kitchen, hardwood floors, a breakfast nook, and a living room with a fireplace.
Invermere, British Columbia: Lakes, Hot Springs, and Skiing
Located next to Alberta’s border in eastern British Columbia, Invermere is a popular year-round vacation destination for the area’s golfing, skiing, and lakeside beaches. Just a few miles north of the resort lies Kootenay National Park, where you can see the Paint Pots—cold mineral springs filled with a bubbling orange pigment once used as paint by First Nations. The park maintains four mountain-biking trails, and there's a safe bike lane along the 100-kilometer stretch of Highway 93 South that connects the park's east and west gates. Stop over at the tiny village called Radium Hot Springs, known for its reputedly therapeutic mineral hot springs, where visitors soak, swim, and splash in steamy pools even in the winter.
Drive 14 miles west of the resort to Panorama Mountain Village to ski through 2,847 acres of powder-filled runs available for all skill levels. The resort also accommodates for nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding. Afterward, head back to Invermere to shop and eat in the quaint and pedestrian-friendly downtown.
