Taste Tapas, Paella, and Olive Oil on Spanish Culinary Trip
Spain’s Costa del Sol region spreads across the Mediterranean coastline, so it makes sense that its culinary tradition is rooted with the sea. Restaurants here commonly serve fresh seafood paired with dry sherry and some of the world’s best olive oil. Head up into the nearby Ronda Mountains, and those same dishes are complemented by sausage, stew, and game. A typical meal here is long and relaxed, equal parts culinary experience and social occasion. Few meals are complete without a glass of Jerez sherry or rioja, Spain’s chilled red wine.
On this 7-day culinary adventure curated by Epitourean, you’ll learn to prepare classic Spanish dishes and visit the charming towns that produce its ingredients. The trip includes:
- 6 nights of junior suite accommodations at Hacienda La Herriza
- Round-trip Malaga airport transfers
- All meals and wine during trip
- Welcome reception and chef’s dinner
- Four hands-on cooking classes
- Guided Marbella market tour
- Guided cheese factory tour
- Bodega wine tour with tapas lunch
- Olive-mill tour and lunch in Ronda
- Sherry bodega tour in Jerez
- Equestrian show with lunch
- Guided Gaucin village tour
- Farewell dinner
- Airfare is not included with this Groupon

Where You’ll Stay: Hacienda La Herriza
From Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), you’ll be whisked away to Hotel Hacienda La Herriza. Located near the mountain town of Gaucín, La Herriza sits nearly 2,000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Ronda Mountains, overlooking the whitewashed fishing villages that dot the shoreline. The hotel restaurant serves fresh Mediterranean cuisine prepared by three specialty chefs.
What You’ll See
Day-to-day activities include ingredient excursions to nearby mountain orchards and farms, market shopping in Marbella (where you’ll try the region’s famous churros con chocolate), and tours of a 17th-century olive-oil mill, a bodega winery, and a goat-cheese factory. You’ll also taste some of the country’s delectable sherry in Jerez, where you’ll enjoy an equestrian show.
What You’ll Make
Professional chefs lead four hands-on cooking classes—on Mediterranean cuisine, ancient Moorish techniques, modern Spanish-fusion dishes, and tapas, which are believed to have originated in this region. Students learn to make dishes such as salmorejo, a gazpacho-like soup with a smooth, velvety texture, as well as Spain’s legendary paella. The trip’s conclusion is punctuated with a memorable Spanish-fusion dinner prepared by the hotel’s culinary team. The final morning, a private car will take you back to Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport for your departure.
