Days 1–3: Athens

Your trip begins in Athens, the birthplace of Western civilization. Spend a night at the 4-star Titania Hotel, located near Constitution Square and the historical neighborhood of Plaka, located at the foothills of the Acropolis. The next day, you’ll transfer to the port of Lavrion to board the cruise ship, the Louis Cruise Lines’ MV Cristal, for a 4-day cruise.

Days 3–4: Syros, Cesme, and Bodrum

The cruise starts in Lavrion before heading to Ermoupoli on the island of Syros. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ermoupoli stands on a natural amphitheater surrounded by neo-classical architecture, churches, and palm trees. The following day, you’ll reach Cesme on the Turkish Aegean coast, a city that once marked the end of the Silk Road. The day ends in Bodrum for a fun-filled evening in the Turkish Riviera.

  • Optional Syros excursion: Take in breathtaking views of Tinos and Mykonos from the domed Anastasi Church, high above the city, then visit beach villages, a monastery, a Turkish Delight factory, and more ($38)
  • Optional Cesme excursion: There are three optional Cesme excursions, including a two-hour bus ride that brings you to Ephesus, once the Roman Empire’s second-largest city and today one of Europe’s most classical cities. Here you can see where St. Paul once preached ($90)
  • Optional Bodrum excursion: There are two optional Bodrum excursions. Spring for a romantic moonlight cruise on a private sailboat and sip cocktails while local belly dancers show you their moves ($51)

Days 5–6: Kos, Ios, and Santorini

The Greek island of Kos sits off the coast of Asia Minor and Turkey, a place where whitewashed buildings overlook excellent beaches. Spend some time here before heading off the following morning to Ios, equally renowned for its beaches. That same day you’ll make for Santorini, famously built upon a volcanic caldera jutting out from the sea.

  • Optional Kos excursions: There are four optional Kos excursions, including a tour of the temple where Hippocrates, the father of medicine, developed many of his groundbreaking techniques ($59), a transfer to beautiful Bravos Beach ($33), a wine and food adventure into Kos ($59), and a half-day Lazy Day cruise ($72).
  • Optional Ios excursions: There are four optional Ios excursions as well, including a trip to the prehistoric settlement of Skarkos ($46), an escape to the aquamarine bay at Manganari ($33), a ride by boat to the Manganari Beach ($33), and a ride on a pirate ship ($59)
  • Optional Santorini excursions: There are three optional Santorini excursions, including a visit to the settlement of Oia where you can snap pictures from a scenic vantage point ($72), a trip to Nea Kameni, where the volcanic surface resembles the moon ($72), and a guided Jeep safari to local towns ($72)

Days 7–8: Piraeus and Brussels

The cruise ends at the port city of Piraeus, where you’ll fly to Brussels, take a shuttle to a hotel, and depart for New York in the morning.
