Tour Itinerary at a Glance

This 9-day guided tour from Gate 1 Travel escorts you to some of the most renowned and historic Christmas markets Western Europe has to offer, helping you collect decorations and treasures for your holiday celebrations. Along the way, you’ll also stop at Olympia Stadium, centuries-old palaces, and the enchanting Black Forest.

  • Day 1: Fly to Munich, Germany.
  • Day 2: Arrive in Munich and spend the day at leisure, before an orientation meeting and welcome drink with your tour manager.
  • Day 3: Embark on a Munich city tour viewing Olympia Stadium and Nymphenburg Palace, before heading to the Christmas market to shop for trinkets and treasures.
  • Day 4: Drive to the Linderhof Palace and the Bavarian town of Oberammergau, where the world-famous Passion Play is performed every 10 years. Then cross into Austria to see Innsbruck’s 15th-century Golden Roof.
  • Day 5: Travel through Liechtenstein en route to Schaffhausen, Switzerland, where you’ll view the thunderous Rhine Falls. Then drive through the Black Forest to see its thick pine trees.
  • Day 6: Go on an excursion to Strasbourg, France and stop at the Gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame. Then embark on a walking tour stopping at the district of La Petite France, which is part of an UNESCO World Heritage site that includes France’s oldest Christmas market.
  • Day 7: Head to Heidelberg, Germany and see the 12th-century Heidelberg Castle and the Christmas market in the historic Market Square.
  • Day 8: Go on a cruise on the scenic Rhine River and stop along the route for a wine tasting, then head to Mainz, Germany and walk through its renowned Christmas market.
  • Day 9: Fly back to the USA.
