With its sprawling, emerald-hued landscapes and centuries-old castles, Scotland appears as if it sprung to life from the pages of a fairytale. This 12-day tour from Gate 1 Travel introduces you to the natural wonders and storied history that make Scotland a bucket-list destination. In-between visits to the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, you’ll admire Victorian architecture, visit charming coastal villages, and ride ferries to picturesque islands that are perfect for selfies.

  • Day 1: Board your flight to Scotland.
  • Day 2: Arrive in the port city of Glasgow and enjoy a welcome dinner.
  • Day 3: Embark on a tour of Glasgow, learning about the city’s Victorian and Art Nouveu architecture and viewing George Square and St. Mungo’s Cathedral.
  • Day 4: Take a cruise through Loch Lomond and see fjord-like landscapes and small islands, then visit Inveraray Castle, the home of the Duke of Argyll. Afterwards, travel to the Isle of Mull.
  • Day 5: View the Isle of Mull’s sea cliffs and famous clock tower before proceeding to the Isle of Iona, where you’ll see the 800-year-old reconstructed Iona Abbey.
  • Day 6: Depart the Isle of Mull by ferry and continue to Fort William to see its breathtaking panoramas from the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak. Then, head to the fishing village of Ullapool.
  • Day 7: Take a scenic car ride along the rocky coastline en route to the isolated Castle and Gardens of Mey overlooking the Orkney Islands, before traveling to Thurso.
  • Day 8: Board a ferry Burwick, a village on the island of South Ronaldsay. View the Churchill barriers created during WWII, as well as the ornate Italian Chapel.
  • Day 9: Visit a local whisky distillery before heading to Dunrobin Castle, which dates back to 1275 and is the largest castle in northern Scotland.
  • Day 10: Take a tour of Blair Castle, home to the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Then make a stop at St. Andrews on your way to Edinburgh.
  • Day 11: Spend the day visiting Edinburgh’s many attractions, including the Museum of Scotland, the Scottish Parliament, and Edinburgh Castle.
  • Day 12: Board your flight back to the U.S.
