Day 1: Transatlantic flight from USA
Days 2–3: London
Set along the River Thames, London boasts 55 Michelin-starred restaurants and one of the world's best theater scenes. It’s also a living museum: there are four World Heritage Sites here—Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London included. You'll get a good look at the city and its many attractions during an optional guided tour, available for an additional fee.
Days 4–5: Stamford, York, Leeds, Jedburgh, Melrose, Edinburgh
On Day 4, you'll head north towards Scotland, first making stops in the market town of Stamford and in medieval York, home to the York Minster, northern Europe's largest gothic cathedral.
The following day you'll see part of Hadrian's Wall—which once set northern boundary of the Roman Empire—before trekking across Northumberland National Park en route to Scotland. Stop for pictures at the home of Mary, Queen of Scots in Jedburgh, and then visit the 12th-century abbey ruins in Melrose, where Robert the Bruce's embalmed heart is said to be buried.
Day 6: Edinburgh
Modern-day Edinburgh has a youthful vibe and some of Scotland's best nightlife, perhaps because it's the home of the University of Edinburgh, which has one of the country's largest student bodies. But the city isn’t too far removed from its long and storied past. Old Town is filled with reminders of yesteryear, including cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways dating back to medieval times, and ornate churches. This deal includes a guided city tour of Edinburgh.
Day 7: Gretna Green, Lake District, Chester, Wrexham
The trip heads back south, stopping in Gretna Green, Scotland, where a blacksmith once famously wed runaway couples. Next, you'll visit England's beautiful Lake District National Park before seeing historic Chester on the River Dee, where you'll take in Roman remains. That night, you'll cross the border into Wales for a stay in Wrexham.
Days 8–9: Wrexham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Broadway, Cardiff, Bath, Stonehenge, London
Shakespeare is for breakfast on Day 8, when you'll tour his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon, now a living monument to the Bard. Afterward you'll drive through the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, which the government has designated an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty." Then it's time for a stop in the Welsh capital of Cardiff, where you'll tour Cardiff Castle, Cathays Park, Millennium Stadium, and the city's stately civic buildings.
Day 9 starts in the Georgian-era city of Bath, named for its Roman baths. Then, it's off to the mysterious Stonehenge, where you'll see the stones up close and visit the brand-new visitors center. You'll return to London in time for dinner and one last night on the town.
Day 10: Return flight from London to New York
