  • Dance like a local: Visit the nightspots and cafes located in downtown’s Old Rio for a night of samba dancing with local Brazilians.
  • Tijuca National Park is the world’s largest urban rainforest. Along the way, you might find colorful flora, waterfalls, and the Pedra de Gávea, which has a human-like face on its vast vertical surface and an ancient inscription carved at its base.
  • Eat like a local: Head to a parrilla, or Argentine steak house, for tira de asado (grilled beef ribs) or milanesa, a breaded fried steak. These parrillas are everywhere in the sprawling city, but some of the best are in the Palermo district.
  • Buenos Aires Botanical Garden: Stray cats saunter along greenhouses and trails overrun with more than 8,000 types of plant life, including cacti and exotic blooms.
