Ideas for Your Vacation
You’ll have a chance to do as the Romans do during this 6-day vacation in the Eternal City. No commitments, required activities, or scheduled tours will come between you and your explorations around town—you’ll be free to wander where the spirit of Rome takes you.
- Head to the Vatican City to see the Sistine Chapel—where Michelangelo painted his famous frescoes—or St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome’s most-visited cathedral.
- Visit Villa Borghese: This ancient vineyard-turned-park has a massive public garden strewn with marble statues and museums. Among them is the Museo e Galleria Borghese, where you’ll see artworks by Raphael, Titian, and Bernini.
- Mingle with locals in Piazza Navona, one of Rome’s liveliest squares. The square, which centers around three ornate fountains, is lined with bars and restaurants that serve pizza al taglio (by the slice) and gooey pasta alla carbonara, a regional specialty.
- Climb the Spanish Steps at the Piazza di Spagna, where you’ll find an elaborate fountain and the house where English poet John Keats briefly lived in 1821. Movie lovers will recognize the steps from Roman Holiday starring Audrey Hepburn.
