Family-Friendly Resort with Top-Notch Snorkeling and Windsurfing and Seven Restaurants
A 24-mile-long coral reef can be found just off the shores of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Aside from being a great spot for snorkeling amid swarms of tropical fish, the reef acts as a natural barrier to keep the waters calm enough for swimming. One of the beaches that benefits from these conditions is Cabeza de Toro, a private stretch of sand alongside Hotel Be Live Grand Punta Cana. Dotted with palapas, loungers, and hammocks nestled between coconut palms, the beach provides a laid-back setting for relaxing with a drink from the beach bar, starting up a game of sand volleyball, or simply watching the waves roll in.
A pool at the center of the resort is large enough to hold a whale. The other pools scattered throughout the property can be found near a casino, a nightclub, tennis courts, and an open-air spa. With this all-inclusive package, the hotel can set you up for kayaking, windsurfing, or sailing the Caribbean on a catamaran.
Feel free to grab a drink at one of four bars or sit down for a meal at any of seven restaurants, five of which have à la carte dining options. Each eatery specializes in a different international cuisine, including Asian, Mediterranean, Dominican, and Brazilian. Some feature live cooking shows.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Miles of White-Sand Beaches
When Christopher Columbus landed on the Dominican Republic more than five centuries ago, he described it as “a beautiful island paradise.” Punta Cana—located on the island’s easternmost tip—lays legitimate claim to that description. The coast, which stretches for more than 20 miles, is dotted with coconut palms, chaise lounges, and laid-back bars. A few of the beaches hark back to earlier times. At Playa El Cortecito, located a short drive up the coast, local fishers still bring their boats to shore each afternoon with the day’s catch.
