Ed Krajsky landed in the Jackson area in 1978, intending to work a short-term summer job. Instead, he planted his roots in the valley's rocky soil, developing an affinity for hiking, biking, and exploring the mountainous terrain. Today, as general manager of The Lexington at Jackson Hole Hotel & Suites, he takes a personal interest in sharing his passion for the area with those who check in to his hotel. Working alongside a convivial team of locals, Ed ensures that guests leverage the hotel's central location to explore quaint downtown Jackson and the surrounding wilderness.

Mornings at The Lexington begin with a hearty breakfast buffet of waffles, gravy biscuits, steel-cut oatmeal, and an array of fruit, pastries, and beverages. In the afternoon, fresh cookies and hot chocolate fill the air with a warm, rich aroma. Two-queen suites come with a private lounge area and a pair of Serta mattresses, and rooms with executive kitchens include appliances, cookware, and flatware for preparing meals or starting nonstick percussion bands. In the pool house, a heated basin and hot tub brim with warm water, sparkling in a stream of winter sunlight.

Jackson: Small-Town Wilderness Haven

The journey to Jackson can be almost as thrilling as the vacation itself, whether guests drive in from the south through the Snake River Canyon, traverse the Teton Pass from Idaho, or touch down by plane alongside snowcapped peaks. The gritty road to downtown Jackson through Grand Teton National Park curls amid sagebrush pastures shadowed by dramatic peaks. Alongside the road—and occasionally right in the middle of it—bison herds amble along, munching on shrubs. Moose, elk, and pronghorn also call Jackson home, sharing the wilds with sylvan locals.

When heavy snows arrive in November, Jackson's population swells with skiers, snowboarders, and more than 5,000 wintering elk. The National Elk Refuge's conservationists invite visitors to observe the mammals up close during horse-drawn sleigh rides. After snapping magazine-quality photos or exchanging saltlick recipes with the antlered beasts, travelers can cross-country ski or snowshoe into Yellowstone National Park. For those who prefer downhill sports, the hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to and from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village.
