Los Angeles resident and movie buff Robert Bucksbaum isn't a stereotypical dude-ranch owner. Instead of wrangling cattle, Bucksbaum spent the better part of a decade running a single-screen movie theater before purchasing the half-century-old Majestic Dude Ranch. Movies are still a part of Bucksbaum's resort, as outdoor screenings—often westerns—as well as karaoke and in-line dancing are included among the resort's nightly activities. Actor Daniel Baldwin recently filmed at the ranch for the independent movie Out West. Located at an 8,000-foot elevation in the San Juan Mountains, Majestic Dude Ranch evokes the kind of Old West ambiance commonly seen in classic western films, making it an ideal spot for horseback riding, cattle roping, or simply relaxing before a campfire.
Majestic Dude Ranch's distinctive red ranch house and cabins welcome with rocking chairs, log furniture, and grizzly bears masquerading as recliners. Campfires blaze at nighttime.
