Tahiti
About an 8-hour flight west from Los Angeles, the paradise-like Tahiti is worth the wait. Intensely blue lagoons line the coast, while lush, green mountains rise from the island’s center. Tahiti is the most populated of the French Polynesian islands, so there are plenty of high-end restaurants and cultural sites as well.
- Eat like a local: Poisson cru or “‘ota ‘ika” is a classic dish in these parts—it’s a ceviche made with mussels, crab, or lobster, marinated in citrus juice and coconut milk.
- Where you’ll stay: Either the 4.5-star Intercontinental Tahiti (for vacations with Moorea add-on) or the 4-star Hotel Tahiti Nui (for vacations with Tikehau add-ons.

Moorea
