Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania: Quaint Former Mineral-Springs Spa Town

The town of Cambridge Springs was both put on the map by and named after a single momentous event: Dr. John H. Gray, a local physician, was hoping to strike gold in 1860 when he discovered mineral spring water instead. After testing these waters for medicinal purposes, he proclaimed that they cured cases of dyspepsia and kidney and liver disorders. Soon after, Cambridge Springs became a popular “spa” town of sorts.

Today, you can learn about all this and more at the Cambridge Springs Museum and History Center. Here, you’ll see a collection of bric-a-brac that includes vintage cheerleading outfits, wooden dolls, and historical photographs. Afterward, you can relax with a drink at a handful of bars and restaurants around town.

It was relaxing. There are no TV's in the room and no elevator so if you are on the third floor be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. The free breakfast was wonderful.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. it is the worst Groupon Getaway I have used and not up to your usual standard. It started when I called to book a room as I was not informed they would take $38 off my credit card at that time to cover the taxes. It was only after calling Visa and Groupon that I was told it must have been the Inn who did it. Anyway we ate in the bar/lounge area the 1st night and waited 50 mins for 2 burgers even though our server said it would be out in 5 mins after half an hour. Then we went up to our room and I sat on the top end of the bed and it collapsed under me as one of the boards holding up the mattress broke !! I went down to front desk to tell them I needed another room and when I said what happened she smiled and said well it is a Victorian Inn !! I refused to stay in the 2nd room they offered as the floor was slanted to the one side and the boards underneath creaked when you walked on it. This explained why there was a step up going into it as it had a sub floor under the carpet and was not laid very well. Eventually I got a room to my satisfaction but when I went into the washroom one of the towel rails were broken just like the 1st room. That seemed to be the norm for this place rather than fix things or just take away the broken part it is left hanging off the wall. The front desk did comp. me the meal I had waited for and said they would sort it when I was leaving. Our 2nd night there we could hear loud voices coming from outside very late in the evening so we had to close our window which helped. In the morning we heard some others complaining to staff at breakfast about the noise in the middle of the night and it turned out it was college kids from outside the Inn playing in the outdoor pool and their room was right above it and ours was not. When we checked out the lady at the front desk said you have almost $4 credit on your card and when I asked how much the taxes where she said just over $14. when I explained they had already taken $38 off my Visa and they were going to comp my meal which was just over $20 she said I didn't make up this bill !! Instead of giving me the extra $20 for the meal they put it onto my bill !! I should have had almost $44 dollars on my card not $4. Anyway after trying to fix the mistake on the bill she gave up and put the original $24 on my card and gave me the cash back for the meal. As I said this was not a fun or relaxing getaway and I did call Groupon when I returned to tell them about it and the girl I spoke to was very understanding and gave me a credit of $50 on my account. I hope you take this place off your getaways as I would not want anyone to go through this experience again.

At the very least, you should have wifi in rooms. I was missing my tv. Pretty yard and good food.
