Rooms with Ocean Views Just Two Blocks from Waikiki Beach

Located on the southeastern shores of Oahu, Waikiki Beach is one of Hawaii’s most famous swaths of sand—first as a summer retreat for 19th-century royalty and now as a bustling strip where sun, surf, and shopping converge. Just two blocks from the legendary beach lies the Seaside Hotel Waikiki. The property is steps from the designer shopping district along Kalakaua Avenue and about four miles from Iolani Palace, the erstwhile residence of Hawaiian royalty.

Seaside Hotel Waikiki’s 125 rooms are spread out across 13 floors, making it a rather intimate hotel compared to neighboring properties. Partial ocean-view double and king rooms are located on the hotel’s top four floors, where balconies open up to ocean views. Downstairs, the onsite Cha Cha Cha 2 restaurant serves Mexican fare and tropical margaritas.

Included with this getaway is a four-hour island tour aboard a motor coach from Gray Line Hawaii Polynesian Adventure Tours. The tour includes visits to the lush Nuuanu Valley rainforest, the Koko Head crater, and the lookout atop the volcanic cone known as Diamond Head. The tour also touches upon key places from President Obama’s formative years, which he spent in Hawaii.

Honolulu's Waikiki: White-Sand Beaches and Luxury Entertainment on the Pacific Ocean

Once a private playground for Hawaii’s ruling class, the neighborhood of Waikiki now welcomes visitors from all over the world to its dazzling shores on the southern edge of Honolulu. Though many come for the surfing and sunbathing, along the main strip of Kalakaua Avenue, there’s world-class dining, nightlife, and shopping. One section of the strip is nicknamed Luxury Row for its collection of upscale boutiques.

Traveling southbound on Kalakaua leads you to the expansive Honolulu Zoo, a habitat for exotic and endangered species. Sumatran tigers make their home in a private cat lair, potbellied pigs galumph in the children’s zoo, and white-handed gibbons practice trust falls on a ropes course. Head a little farther south for outdoor music at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center and the Waikiki Shell. Throughout the year, no matter the season, the shell-shaped amphitheater sends ripples of music across nearly 2,000 stadium chairs and another 6,000 lawn seats.
