A series of mills churned Walters Creek from the 1850s through the 1980s at the exact site of the modern-day Falls Inn & Spa. Ontario’s Grey County is a haven for outdoors enthusiasts. When the weather’s warm, hikers flock to the Bruce Trail, which starts near Lake Ontario and ends in the Bruce Peninsula between Lake Huron and the Georgian Bay. Covering about 550 miles (885 km) of terrain, the trail passes by cliffs, log bridges, and miniature cascades.

The area gets about 9 feet (3.5 m) of snow most winters, attracting snowmobilers for rides through the scenic countryside. Elsewhere, skiers skim the slopes of the Blue Mountains or strap on cross-country gear to explore parts of the Georgian Trail. Skirting the Georgian Bay, this trail has several swimming areas where hikers can cool off during summer.
