Hot Springs, North Carolina: Hot Mineral Springs near the Appalachian Trail and Pisgah National Forest
Though it's located at the confluence of the French Broad River and Spring Creek, Hot Springs is named for a different body of water. Its namesake hot springs are one of the southeastern United States' only mineral springs. Visitors soak in their purportedly healing waters at Hot Springs Resort and Spa, which pipes the water into outdoor jacuzzi hot tubs, positioned along the banks of the rivers.
Many folks chance upon Hot Springs as they're making their trek up the Appalachian Trail. The Trail runs straight through the town along Bridge Street and begins to climb the Blue Ridge Mountains as it winds out of town. Additional hiking opportunities abound at Pisgah National Forest, just a short walk outside of town.
