See Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Leopards, and More on Kenyan Safari
This Kenyan safari from Africa Answers immerses you in Africa's diverse landscape with game drives at Amboseli National Park and Lake Nakuru National Park, where you can see thousands of flamingoes. The tour's highlight is a stop at one of the continent's most famous game reserves—Masai Mara, which Frommer's touts as "epic animal viewing terrain." Throughout the year, it's easy to catch glimpses of the legendary "Big Five" creatures—elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions, and buffalo—roaming the park. Tours last 10 or 11 days, depending on your departure city.

Days 1–3: Depart on Emirates from Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), Houston (IAH), New York (JFK), Washington (IAD), or Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), arriving in Dubai before catching a connecting flight to Kenya. On day 3, you'll arrive in Kenya's capital city, Nairobi, and meet up with a tour guide who'll lead the way to the Southern Sun Hotel.
Days 4–5: The group sets out for Amboseli National Park, where sprawling savannahs surround Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain at more than 19,000 feet. After lunch at the base of the snow-capped behemoth, you'll venture out on a game drive before retiring to Ol Tukai Lodge, your headquarters for the next two days. It is recommended you leave your windows closed, to keep monkeys out. On a morning and afternoon game drive on day 5, you're liable to encounter porcupines and giraffes.
Days 6–7: At the pastoral Aberdare Country Club, you'll enjoy a welcome drink before heading to Aberdare National Park, whose deep-green mountainsides are cut through by rushing waterfalls. Base camp for the night is The Ark Lodge, which features several wooden balconies overlooking a watering hole frequented by elephants. At night, leopards have been known to slink up to the water; each guest room is equipped with a special system to alert guests to these rare sightings.
The next day kicks off with a visit to Lake Nakuru National Park. It's home to endangered rhinos, but the park is best known for its massive flamingo population. Afternoon game drives provide a look at thousands of the bright pink birds clustered in and around the lake. The day ends with dinner at Lake Naivasha and lodgings at the Lake Naivasha Country Club.
Days 8–9: A scenic drive southwest through the rugged Great Rift Valley brings you to Masai Mara game reserve. Its more than 900 square miles are home to a stunning range of wildlife, from zebras and warthogs to hippos loping alongside the Masai River.
For the next two evenings, you'll bunk at Keekorok Lodge. An early game drive starts the day, followed by a leisurely afternoon. You can use this free time to experience the local culture at a traditional Masai village. Despite the influx of tourists to the game reserve, the villagers live simply, making their homes in round boma huts constructed from mud and sticks.
Day 10: The last leg of the journey takes you back to Nairobi for an afternoon tour of the city. It includes a stop at the Giraffe Centre, a conservation park where visitors can interact with the long-necked inhabitants. Enjoy a dinner at Carnivore Restaurant before boarding your Dubai-bound flight at Nairobi International Airport.
Days 11–12: After the overnight flight, you'll touch down in Dubai, where you'll transfer to your flight home, which arrives in the United States the following day.
