South African Safari and Trip to Cape Town and Johannesburg

The trip includes round-trip international airfare, arriving in Johannesburg (JNB) and departing from Cape Town (CPT). Depending on the option purchased, you’ll fly out of the United States from New York City (JFK), Washington, DC (IAD), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA), Houston (HOU), Dallas (DFW), Denver (DEN), Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle (SEA), San Francisco (SFO), Portland (PDX), or Phoenix (PHX).

The Big Five Game Animals in Wildlife Area near Kruger National Park

You'll have an overnight stay at Johannesburg's Airport Grand Hotel, which is located just 10 minutes from Johannesburg International Airport. This will be a brief stopover on the way to the Kruger National Park area with accommodations at Hippo Hollow Country Estate.

While here, you’ll go on a full-day safari through the park’s wildlife area with a chance to see one of the Big Five, which includes the lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros, along with other species. In the included elephant interaction, you'll get up close with six tame and trained African elephants, the world’s largest living land animal. Kruger also has a number of archaeological sites, including the village of Masorini, home to more than 170 prehistoric rock paintings.

Cape Town's Table Mountain and Centuries-Old Buildings

Travel + Leisure dubbed Cape Town one of the World’s Best Cities in 2011. Here, you’ll spend four nights at the Cape Town Hollow Boutique Hotel. You can shop the lively markets by day and have a cocktail on a beachfront terrace in the evening, or take advantage of the mountain-studded landscape by hiking or rappelling down a steep cliff.

On an included half-day tour, you'll see Cape Town’s main attractions, such as the 17th-century Castle of Good Hope or the Rhodes Memorial—a landmark resembling a Greek temple that was built in the memory of imperialist Cecil John Rhodes. Keep an eye out for the herds of zebras and wildebeests that graze around the memorial. The rest of the time in Cape Town is left open for self-guided exploration.

Return flights to the United States will depart from Cape Town International Airport on the 10th day, with stateside arrival on day 11.
