Know Before You Go
- Additional fee to travel solo: $360 for all dates
- Additional taxes & fees: mandatory car insurance coverage not included (ranges between $25-$30 per day). Valid credit card and drivers license required for rental. Up to $1,000 refundable deposit required for the duration of renting the vehicle.
- A passport is required for all travel outside the U.S.
- Passports must be valid for at least six months after the date of travel, and contain at least two blank visa pages.

- CDC Travel Order: Effective 12/6/21, all air passengers regardless of vaccination status, must show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 1 day before their flight departs and to provide proof of the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding a U.S. bound flight. The 33-square-kilometer Arenal Volcano has been active since July 29, 1968. It has two different landscapes: one covered with lush vegetation that houses a variety of wildlife, and another rugged area of lava flow and sand as a result of constant eruptions. La Fortuna and the surrounding area is known for its hot springs, which provide a unique relaxing environment surrounded by local nature. With its several protected areas, lakes, lagoons, volcanoes, rivers and waterfalls, nature-loving visitors can enjoy the region’s many riches. Tropical rain forests as well as fertile plains serve as sanctuaries for water birds, reptiles, mammals and the prehistoric Gaspar fish, and offer many sites of interest for wildlife-lovers. Adventure activities and nature-watching may be enjoyed along or on the region’s rivers.
Manuel Antonio is home to Costa Rica’s most famous national park, as well as regular sightings of its more famous residents - sloths and white faced capuchin monkeys. The unique ecosystem provides protected habitat for numerous plant and wildlife species, while the surrounding coast is home to abundant marine life, including seasonal whale migrations and world class sportfishing.
