Itinerary at a Glance

  • Day 1: Fly overnight from the US to Paris, France.
    • Depart the US on an overnight flight to Paris, France, a city where internationally-acclaimed monuments seem to line every boulevard and avenue. Awash with must-see museum collections, there are also plenty of boutiques with tempting window displays to admire, before delving into a traditional bistro to sample classic French cuisine.
  • Day 2: Day at leisure in Paris.
    • A great way to obtain an overview of all Paris, ‘the city of light,’ has to offer is with a cruise down the Seine, a river gently dividing the French capital into north and south. Travel east and you can admire the gothic wonder of Notre Dame Cathedral and the glorious stained-glass of Sainte-Chapelle, before walking across the Pont Neuf bridge to the Louvre, home to the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. End the day with a stroll through the Tuileries Gardens towards the Place de la Concorde, before seeking out a restaurant terrace with views towards the Eiffel Tower.
  • Day 3: Day at leisure in Paris.
    • Start the day in Montmartre, the district capped by the white domes of the Sacre Coeur Basilica. While in the district, consider visiting the Halle Saint-Pierre art center or Montmartre Museum. Then travel south to Les Invalides, the final resting place of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Follow this up by crossing the Champ de Mars park in order to ride the elevators to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
  • Day 4: Travel from Nice to Paris.
    • Pack a picnic and head to Paris’ Gare de Lyon train station for one of the high-speed rail services to Nice, a journey of approximately six hours. Situated on the French Riviera, Nice has a dramatic position on France’s Mediterranean coast, and promises the perfect mix of year-round sunshine, old world elegance, and sublime cuisine.
  • Day 5: Day at leisure in Nice.
    • Dedicate the morning hours to exploring Nice Old Town, a municipality which can trace its heritage back to ancient Greece. Full of winding streets, it’s the ideal place to absorb the culture of France’s south. Before leaving the old town, be sure to check out the Colline de Chateau. Although its castle was destroyed in 1706, the park that replaced it has great views over the city. Follow lunch with a visit to a museum such as MAMAC, Nice’s Museum of Contemporary Art, then join the Mediterranean coast on the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais for a late afternoon stroll.
  • Day 6: Travel by Helicopter to Monte Carlo, Monaco.
    • Travel in style to the world’s second-smallest sovereign state, Monaco, by flying by helicopter from Nice to its capital, Monte Carlo. Perhaps best known for its casino (featured in several James Bond movies) and the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix race, Monte Carlo is one of the most beguiling destinations in Europe, offering a glimpse into the high life of the rich and famous amid stunning natural beauty.
  • Day 7: Day at leisure in Monte Carlo.
    • Tackle one of the staircases (or grab a taxi) leading up to Monaco Ville, better known simply as Le Rocher – The Rock. Sitting on a street plan largely unchanged since medieval times, it’s here you’ll find the palace of Albert II, prince of Monaco. His family has ruled since the 1200s, while a Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place daily just before noon. Continue to the Jardin Exotique, the world’s largest collection of cacti and succulent plants, before delving beneath the waves at the Oceanographic Museum, featuring no less than 90 tanks filled with the Mediterranean’s marine species. End the day as 007 would wish, with a trip to Monte Carlo Casino.
  • Day 8: Return to Nice & fly back to the US.
    • Depart Monte Carlo for a return to Nice by train, a journey of just 35 minutes along an unrivalled stretch of coastline. Then make your way to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport for your return to the US.
