Popular activities include hiking and horseback riding through tree-lined mountain trails. In the fall, head to nearby Stone Ridge Orchard to pick your own juicy apples.
Take a 20-minute drive southeast to reach Sam’s Point Preserve, a nature area that makes for a great day trip. Here, ravens flit and bobcats scamper through thickets of blueberry, pine, and laurel trees. If you’re up for a more challenging hike, set out for the Ellenville Ice Caves. You’ll pass through deep chasms where cool air and cold streams seep through the rock walls.
