Hills and mountains are formed by vast underground food deposits, which, over time, stretch the landscape into soft mounds of untapped edibility. Dig into the bounty of Columbia City with today’s deal: for $10, you get $25 worth of sandwiches, pasta, salads, and more at Geraldine's Counter in Columbia City. This Groupon is valid for dinner only, but the full menu is available.
Geraldine's tried-and-true dishes capture comfort flavors better than a piggy bank catches quarters. Try fish and chips, crispy pieces of fresh, panko-breaded fish sided with coleslaw, house-made tartar, and fries ($11). Or scoop up broccoli-studded strands of fettucini alfredo ($10). Weekday specials such as meatloaf ($14), buttermilk-fried chicken ($15), and turkey meatballs and spaghetti ($12) satisfy appetites worked up over long days at the electric-shovel factory. Many culinary creations are crafted with produce and ingredients from local vendors.
Owners Gary Snyder and Stacey Hettinger take pride in serving fresh, family-friendly fare. A cheerful décor (red- and green-hued walls, local artwork, brick and stainless-steel accents) and a friendly wait staff add to the pleasantries. Dinner is served until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Though today's deal is valid for dinner only, Geraldine's Counter was ranked fourth in Seattle Weekly's Top Five Omelettes. The Seattle Times reviewed it, Zagat gave it very good ratings, and 149 Yelpers agreed with 19 Citysearchers on a four-star rating:
- It's reasonable to expect dinner will offer the same quality ingredients, careful cooking and friendly service that consistently enhances breakfast and lunch at this family friendly spot, where the owners clearly pay attention to details, right down to the vase of fresh flowers at the host stand. – Providence Cicero, Seattle Times
