For Joseph Abboud, the concept of “made in America” is more than a mere marketing angle or style choice: It’s a lifestyle. Born the son of a seamstress into a working-class Boston family, he cut his chops at Ralph Lauren before launching his own menswear line in 1986. Four years later, he became the first designer to ever win the CDFA award for Menswear Designer of the Year two years in a row. He earned such a title by dressing men from head to toe in sharp lapels and clean, classic suits—all expertly tailored at his state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Massachusetts to ensure both quality and fit. Because so much of style lies in the details, Abboud also designs striking cufflinks, belts, shoes, and socks to effortlessly complete any look. Though the fashion house has changed hands a few times—most recently falling back into Abboud’s—it has always remained true to the aesthetics and quality that made it successful.
