The Scouting Report

At this point last year, most WNBA fans knew the second overall pick Elena Delle Donne would be a good player. But Delle Donne exceeded all expectations, capturing the attention of fans across the country with a historic rookie campaign. In fact, she received more votes for the All-Star game than any other player or hot dog vendor—the first rookie in WNBA history to ever hold such sway in the ballot. Though her efforts helped earn Chicago the Eastern Conference’s top seed in the playoffs, it failed to get by the Indiana Fever in the first round.

This year, the team hopes to repeat its regular season dominance so it can earn another trip to the postseason and make a run. The team will again rely on offensive production from Delle Donne—who, in her sophomore season, will need to further develop into the role of leader—as it faces star-studded rivals in early season games. Two games in particular will carry meaning for the Sky: it faces Indiana for the first time since its playoff series on May 16, and then takes the floor against defending WNBA champs the MInnesota Lynx on May 26.

About Chicago Sky

The 'K' of the Chicago Sky's logo towers above the other letters, two thin prongs poking out from the top—a nod to the most famous of the city's iconic buildings. Fittingly inspired by the Chicago skyline, the Sky's uniforms have represented the Windy City since 2005. In those years, some of the WNBA's top players have donned the blue and yellow threads, including 2015 MVP winner Elena Delle Donne, back-to-back Sixth Woman of the Year Allie Quigley, and seven-time All-Star Cappie Pondexter.

Chicago Sky is also committed to inspiring future generations by showing some of the best female athletes in the world, delivering high-quality and affordable family entertainment through positive role models who lead both on and off the basketball court, while giving back to the Chicagoland community.
