With more than 40 years of history supporting grass-roots environmental education, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival hosts a two-day display of music, art, and educational exhibits focused on eco-conscious activities and lifestyles. Seven stages present more than 65 eco-friendly musical acts, such as Ani DiFranco, Bela Fleck, Martin Sexton, and Dawes, and the Story Grove stage presents renowned storytellers spinning family-friendly fables, cultural folktales, and the courtroom dramas of Peter Rabbit. Meanwhile, a family stage features a juried craft fair, farmers market, and a traveling musical petting zoo.
More than 40 artists showcase pieces made with sustainable materials at the juried craft area, with many lending a glimpse into the craft-making process with live demonstrations and hands-on activities. Sate cravings and cupboards with green and organic fare at the festival’s food court or the artisanal food and farm market, or cruise over to the green-living expo to learn how to harness geothermal energy and how to insulate homes without knitting unsustainable chimney mittens.
Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival is open to all eco-aficionados, as wheelchair accessibility, American Sign Language interpreters, and numerous assistance experts are available throughout the festival. Proceeds from the event support Clearwater’s multitude of environmental-education programs, including Clearwater, its boat-bound classroom, which offers river journeys to festival-goers throughout the weekend ($15–$45/person).
