Drive-By Truckers
Drive-By Truckers have always embraced storytelling with a sharp social conscience, crafting distinctly American narratives through their music. Founded in 1996 by singer/songwriter/guitarists Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, the band has long carried a progressive fire, but AMERICAN BAND stands as their most politically charged album yet. Hard-edged and unapologetically direct, it confronts the realities of modern America—race, income inequality, gun violence, deregulation, and the growing urban-rural divide. Rather than relying on symbolism, Hood and Cooley channel their frustration into raw, thought-provoking songwriting, delivering tracks like What It Means and Kinky Hypocrites that demand attention. Fueled by moral urgency and righteous energy, AMERICAN BAND is more than an album—it’s a call for awareness, conversation, and change.
Deer Tick
Deer Tick is an alternative rock band from Providence, Rhode Island, led by singer-songwriter John J. McCauley, alongside guitarist Ian O'Neil, bassist Chris Ryan, and drummer Dennis Ryan.
Blending elements of rock, folk, blues, and country, the band embraces a raw, unfiltered sound while distancing themselves from the "country" label, proudly declaring, "We’re proud not to sing with a twang." Known for their energetic live shows, Deer Tick frequently incorporates covers into their sets, taking on songs from artists like The Replacements, Nirvana, John Prine, and Warren Zevon. They’ve even taken their love for Nirvana a step further, performing full tribute sets as Deervana, including a 2013 show honoring the 20th anniversary of In Utero.
