Though he’s only been a RoughRider for a couple months, slugging third baseman Joey Gallo has certainly impacted the Texas League. After making headlines with a monstrous home run during the MLB Futures Game in July, Gallo has continued smashing the ball for a Frisco club that now sits amongst the league leaders in runs, homers, batting average, and total bases. Later this month, the RoughRiders will close out their regular season against the Midland Rockhounds, a team that boasts another one of the Texas League’s top offenses. Fans can get in on the action, too, thanks to special ballpark promotions, including after the game on Sunday, August 31, when kids can run the bases and taste the delicious cocoa powder that forms the infield.
Frisco RoughRiders
Since becoming the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers in 2003, the RoughRiders have continually replenished the Big Leagues with some of baseball’s brightest stars.
