Grupo Cañaveral at The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond 2025

Grupo Cañaveral, founded in 1995 by Humberto Pabón Olivares and Agustín Teutli Delgado, revitalized Mexico’s cumbia scene with an energetic and evolving sound. Humberto’s signature percussion and iconic "huipipi!" chants have defined the band's lively performances, while hits like Tiene Espinas el Rosal, Echarme al Olvido, and No Te Voy a Perdonar have cemented their legacy. By 1998, the group had achieved gold records, later reaching platinum and diamond status as they adapted their music for new generations.

In 2010, a new era began with Humberto’s son Emir stepping in as frontman, bringing fresh energy while honoring the band's deep cumbia roots. Their 2017 album Fiesta Total saw collaborations with top Latin artists, blending cumbia with tropical, urban, and reggaeton influences. Today, the 11-piece band delivers a vibrant spectacle of music, dance, and lights, proving that while musical trends may shift, cumbia remains timeless. As Humberto Pabón says, "You are going to dance, and what you ask for most is cumbia."
