New Mexico State Fair

The Fair

• Concessions and Exhibits: More than 400 vendors will set up shop at the fair, and special exhibits, livestock competitions, and art galleries will showcase the state’s heritage.
• Rodeos (select dates): Rodeo events will unfold throughout the fair, including PRCA Rodeo competition September 13–18
• Chicharron Challenge (September 13): Restaurants from all across the state will compete for the coveted title of “Chicharron Champion.”

The Music

• Chase Bryant (Sept. 14): The grandson of Roy Orbison sideman Jimmy Bryant recently burst out of the tiny town of Orange Grove, Texas to make it big with country-rock hits like “Take It On Back” and “Little Bit of You.”
• LOCASH (Sept. 15): Armed with a catalog that includes “Here Comes Summer” and “Keep in Mind,” these Grand Ole Opry veterans weave rock and country with tight harmonies and catchy riffs.
• 38 Special (Sept. 16): These rough-and-tumble arena rockers emerged from the 1970s with hits like “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up In You,” and “If I’d Been the One.”
