The Scouting Report
This April, the Mets storm back onto the diamond to begin their season-long pursuit of an N.L. East division crown. Fighting the temptation to turn Citi Field into the world’s largest hot tub this winter, the team was busy making improvements, including bolstering the roster with several key acquisitions both in the lineup and on the mound. Fans can scout these new faces for themselves during some of the upcoming promotional giveaways. On Sunday, April 6—one of the Mets’ Family Sundays at Citi Field—the first 15,000 fans will receive a David Wright poster, and all kids 12 and under will have the chance to run the bases after the game. On Saturday, April 26, the first 20,000 fans get replica batting helmets to shield their hands in case any buttons burst from the new players’ hand-me-down uniforms. And on Friday, May 9, all fans can celebrate Free Shirt Friday by donning a complimentary Curtis Granderson “Grandy” T-shirt.
