About Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science combines a planetarium, aquarium, and science museum in one location nestled in downtown Miami’s Museum Park. It takes on an important mission: to "inspire people of all ages and cultures to enjoy science and technology, in order to better understand ourselves and our world." The museum welcomes guests to explore the cosmos in the 250-seat Frost Planetarium—one of only thirteen places in the world with a 3-D 8K visual system. Or, patrons can visit the three-story Aquarium, where they'll come face-to-face with devil rays and sharks, among other species.
Size: at 250,000 square feet, the museum boasts four distinct buildings including the three-level aquarium
Permanent Mainstay: the Planetarium features a 65-foot-diameter domed projection screen
Don't Miss: Dynamic Earth, which explores the inner workings of planet Earth and narrated by Liam Neeson
The Feathers to the Stars exhibition is an interactive narrative on the journey of flight—from feathered dinosaurs and modern-day human aviation, to the adventure of future space travel. Guests learn about paleontology, aerospace engineering, astronomy, and physics as they come face-to-face with a 30-foot feathered dinosaur, meet the daredevil inventors who pioneered human aviation, and wander amid models of deadly falcons and historical Miami aircrafts, including a real military fighter jet.
The MeLaß exhibition, sponsored by Baptist Health South Florida, features interactive zones (eat, move, relax, connect and learn) and experiments that reveal how the body and mind function, along with ways to improve it. The exhibition explores behavioral science and neuroscience research, medical technology and public health.
