Rockin’ the house with what the Dallas Observer calls “spot-on depictions and impossibly fun offerings,” local goodtime instigators Rhymin’ N Stealin’ keep the spirit of the iconic group alive with their fastidious duplication of a Beastie Boys concert. From selling out their inaugural performance to charming B-Boys and B-Girls across the land, the improve-comedians-turned-MCs replicate Ad-Rock’s nasally sneer, Mike D’s less nasally sneer, and the dearly departed MCA’s throaty shout as they plow through a set of old-school hits laced with party-time bombast and charming comic similes. The trio encourages further noise making from the crowd with zany costume changes, live scratch sets from Mix Master G, and more energy than two sweater factories briskly rubbed together.
