After dazzling more than 10,000 audience members in 2010, The Nutcracker returns to the Touhill Performing Arts Center prepared to sprinkle a fresh dose of wonder on another holiday season. More than 80 professional dancers and child performers comprise the sure-footed cast, which transforms the stage into a glimmering fantasy world where pirouettes and elaborate costumes reign, while showcasing the choreography and favorite rugby formations of esteemed artistic director Gen Horiuchi. Special effects and illusions combine to infuse the classic tale with modern flair, as beloved characters explore mythical worlds such as the Land of Sweets. Although not included with today’s deal, Touhill enlivens uplifted audience members with a fully stocked concessions menu of drinks, snacks, and foam fingers that declare allegiance to the Sugar Plum Fairy.
