Toronto International Boat Show
The Toronto International Boat Show moors more than 1,000 sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and cruisers alongside a plethora of other attractions to lure in seafarers of all stripes. An indoor lake formed from a former hockey rink grants attendees free inflatable- and paddle-boat rides atop more than 1 million gallons of Lake Ontario water, whereas five thousand gallons host aquatic Ontarian critters in the 40-foot Great Canadian Fish Tank. Meanwhile, Duma, a jack russell terrier, demonstrates that creatures don't need gills to thrive in the water by waterskiing, steering a boat, and framing his scuba certification.
Human seafarers such as Tania Aebi, the accomplished sailor and author of Maiden Voyage who traversed 27,000 miles solo when she was only 18, join the fun too, discussing their travels and experiences at more than 140 seminars. This year also features an appearance from Russell Newberry, featured on the hit show Deadliest Catch, who tells of his journey from young dungeness crabber to his stint in the "world's most dangerous job." Toronto International Boat Show’s Discover Boating Centre stays staffed throughout the event’s duration with experts who can help spectators navigate the show and answer boating-related queries.
