The Scouting Report
This past offseason, the Redskins made bolstering their offensive line a priority: during April’s draft, the team spent the fifth overall pick on 6’5”, 320-pound tackle Brandon Scherff, whose sheer strength figures to make him the first guy his teammates ask to help them move for years to come. Though the season is still very young, Washington has already seen the benefits of its upgrades. Squaring off against a stout Miami defensive line in week one, Washington allowed just one sack, and running back Alfred Morris averaged nearly five yards per carry. Scherff and Co. face another big test—and the potential to make major strides—in week two against a Rams defense whose dominant front four nevertheless helped allow 31 points in its first outing.
