The Scouting Report

On January 7, Langston Galloway became the first Westchester Knicks player ever to receive a call from the New York Knicks—he was headed to the NBA. That day, the team added yet another chapter to its inaugural season, which has seen them play exceptionally well at home. Through their first 19 games, the Knicks posted a 7-4 record at Westchester County Center. Galloway was a big part of that, averaging a team-high 17 points per game. But now that Langston’s gone and his locker has officially been turned over to the team’s tomato plants, fans will have the chance to see another rising star step up during match-ups against Atlantic Division rivals.

Westchester Knicks

The Westchester County Knicks were founded in March 2014, and they tipped of their inaugural season that November. In doing so, they became the 18th franchise of the NBA’s Developmental League, as well as Westchester County’s first-ever professional sports franchise. A name-the-team contest saw them adopt the Knickerbocker moniker of their NBA affiliate, as well as the classic orange, blue, and white color scheme that has become synonymous with New York basketball. During games, fans can expect a festive, family friendly environment, highlighted by dancers and off-the-court fun. They can also expect to see some of the sport’s rising stars before they move on to the NBA or start their own business rescuing pets from trees.
