Dragons, glowing pagodas and iridescent pinwheels are coming to Boerner Botanical Gardens. It’s all part of China Lights, a Chinese Lantern Festival that has been bringing stunning illuminated sculptures to select venues around the world. Now it floats into Milwaukee for an after-sundown celebration of Asian life and culture, transforming the nine-acre Gardens into a magical paradise of enchanting illuminated displays. Enjoy a backstage tour of the lanterns and participate in the nightly parade. Or, simply enjoy wandering through the thrilling spectacle, which includes live performances of music, juggling and other arts, as well as the chance to purchase food and merchandise at the marketplace. China Lights: Treasures of China will have 95% new lantern displays featuring cultural gems. The handmade displays range from three-feet to three-stories high. The festival will also include an expanded interactive exhibit area, two stages for Asian folk-culture performances, a marketplace, two dining areas and vendors offering a variety of Asian and Western menu options.

- This voucher is good for admission for one to China Lights on a date of your choice, September 13 - October 20, 2019. The event runs daily from 5:30pm-10:00pm. It is closed on Mondays. All vouchers include access to a Mobile Audio Guide that can be accessed from the app OnCell via your smart phone. You must have a smart phone to access the URL provided at entry to use the mobile guide. VIP Admission includes early entry at 5:00pm, mobile audio guide, a collector fan (while supplies last), a VIP seat at the show, a private tour at 5:15pm and optional 6:15pm parade participation. This is an outdoor event and will run rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. Children ages 4 and under are admitted for free. Children ages 5 and older must have a ticket. The Visitor and Education Center building will be closed at 4:00pm daily during China Lights. The China Lights area of Boerner Botanical Gardens is open during the day for the general admission fees from 8:30am-4:30pm. Guests purchasing a daytime ticket can purchase an evening ticket for that same day for an additional $10 by showing their daytime wristband. No reciprocal garden admissions or Friends of Boerner Botanical Garden Memberships are valid during the China Lights special event.
