Considered the heir apparent to reed masters like Buddy DeFranco and Benny Goodman, Eddie Daniels has been making beautiful music on the clarinet since his debut at the Newport Jazz Festival at the age of 15. In the more than 50 years since that time, he's made his mark as a Grammy Award winner, a bandleader and a longtime member of the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra. Known for his equal virtuosity with jazz and classical music, the world-class soloist now makes a much-anticipated stop at the McAfee Performing Arts and Lecture Center in Saratoga, performing Paganini in Metropolis backed by the accomplished San Jose Metropolitan Band for the first half of the concert, and for the second half he plays with three great local musicians: Murray Low on piano, Nils Johnson on bass and Wally Schnalle on drums.
