Now previewing at Museum of Sex, explore the sexual origins of the carnival in a combination of history and immersive, experiential amusements. Four galleries take visitors from the carnival’s ancient bacchanalian origins to its evolution in pre-industrial Europe, and the “midway” of the 20th century’s great World’s Fairs, describing how its licentious and permissive subtext has remained intact. The group art show tells this story in 13 one-of-a-kind commissioned amusements created by an internationally renowned team of artists and designers, bringing themes of sexual carnality, decadence, and joy to a contemporary audience. - This voucher is good for one admission to the Museum of Sex on any weekday (Monday-Friday) through August 30, 2019. Monday through Thursday, the last entry is at 9:00pm. On Friday, the last entry is at 10:00pm. No one under the age of 18 will be permitted in the museum due to the graphic content. All backpacks (any size) and umbrellas, parcels, bags, and purses larger than 11 × 14 inches (28 × 35.5 cm) must be checked. The use of cell phones or pagers in the exhibition area of the Museum is strictly prohibited. Visitors should allow 90 minutes for their visit. Voucher use is subject to the availability of admission. Museum of Sex may close early for special events or extend hours during peak periods.
