They've inspired poets, painters and composers for millennia, and now an evening of music celebrating light and love will fill the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. After establishing himself as one of the country's preeminent composers with his Requiem for the Living and Jubilate Deo, award-winning American composer Dan Forrest's third major composition for chorus and orchestra will be brought to life by the talented musicians and vocalists of Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Singers International. Lux: The Dawn From on High is a five-movement work that explores various facets of lux (Latin for “light”) in texts ranging from ancient liturgical chant to Scripture to modern secular love poetry. Written for choir, string orchestra and piano, Ola Gjeilo's Dreamweaver, which premiered on this very stage at Carnegie Hall back in 2014, is a large-scale work based on the well-known Norwegian medieval poem Draumkvedet. The concert will also feature his short a cappella work Ubi Caritas and The Ground.
