Balanchine, Ratmansky, Tharp salutes three masters of dance from the 20th century to the present. George Balanchine is regarded as the foremost contemporary choreographer in the world, having created works that have become iconic in the ballet lexicon. Alexei Ratmansky and Twyla Tharp also provided a new vision for the art of movement and they continue to propel dance into the future. D.C.'s Warner Theatre will come alive with performances of Balanchine's exuberant, pure and joyous Allegro Brillante, set to the sounds of Tchaikovksy. You'll also see the Washington Ballet's company premiere of Ratmansky's Seven Sonatas, as well as Nine Sinatra Songs, Tharp's swinging, swirling, romantic work backed by the crooning of Frank Sinatra.
