Located in the hills of Grand Prairie with some of the highest elevation points in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Tangle Ridge Golf Course is an outstanding municipal layout with a great variety of holes and challenges. The course, which opened in 1995 and was designed by respected Texas golf course architect Jeff Brauer, has several elevated tees, tree-lined fairways and no homes on the course - just golf. At 6,835 yards from the tips, this par-27 course really will require most players to use just about every club in their bag, from managing some of the doglegs to letting it rip on some of the more wide open holes. The front nine has more hills, while the back nine is a little more flat. All the holes are solid, while the par-5s are particularly strong. The eighth is 575 yards with a creek that comes into play off an elevated tee shot. The 18th, a 521-yard par-5, is a great finishing hole. Those trying to hit this in two will have to challenge the more narrow part of the fairway to have a shot. The course also has a nice collection of par 3s, which play from 132 yards to 189 yards. The latter is the 17th, which plays over a large pond that fronts the green. In addition to the course, Tangle Ridge Golf Club, which is rated well over four stars on GolfPass, also offers full practice facilities including a range, short-game area and putting green. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as the 19th Hole Grille, which offers sandwiches, burgers and drinks.
