Online Booking - Round of Golf at Shipyard Golf Club
With three beautiful nines, Shipyard Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses on Hilton Head Island and still a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The 27-hole layout is classic Hilton Head golf, winding through lagoons, wetlands and lakes, with plenty of mature pines and hardwoods, some covered by Spanish moss. The original Clipper and Galleon courses were designed by George Cobb and opened in 1970. The third nine, the Brigantine, opened in 1982, and is a Willard C. Byrd creation. There is a great variety of holes on all three nines, with doglegs that go both ways and Diamond Zoysia grass greens tucked into the trees, making the course both playable and challenging. With four sets of tees, each nine sets up for every level of golfer. While the course isn't considered overly difficult, the fairways can certainly be narrow, and there are plenty of bunkers. Most of all, there's a good bit of water that comes into play. Still, the natural beauty is what sets it apart with plenty of wildlife, including herons, deer, and of course, quite a few alligators. Beside the golf course, Shipyard Golf Club also offers a driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. Golfers can also get lessons from the course professionals. And inside the clubhouse, you'll find a well-stocked golf shop with the latest in logoed apparel and accessories. There's also a pretty good restaurant in the clubhouse. The Brickyard Pub is a great spot to grab a beer and an appetizer or enjoy a full meal, with great views, big screen TVs for sports and a full bar.
